Got to agree with the review. Frankly I’m enjoying Uncanny more than Astonishing right now. There’s too much of that pseudo sciency crap Ellis loves so much in Astonishing while Uncanny is light and just fun to read.

I agree that X-Men comics aren’t always supposed to be dark and angsty. Some of my favorite issues are from X-Men Unlimited (1st and 2nd series), which revolved around down time for X-Men characters.

As with Emma and Scott, I’m not enjoying their current “love birds” status it seems to be. I’ve mentioned before I love Emma and Scott as the screwed up and dysfunctional couple they were back in Morrison and Whedon’s run.

I like my Emma and Scott fighting, and then making up with hot hate sex. Not, “Hey Babe I love you so much.”

Just …ew. One of the things I’ve loved about Emma and Scott is that they are not a conventional couple.

Ah, another of my Twilight brethren.

The couples in question are quite different. I’m not saying that Scott and Emma are as suited as Edward and Bella (though i imagine many people will argue that point to), but they fit together really well. They compliment each other.

I agree with adrian that the characters have improved, and the team is now even better than before.
Yet it bores me still with scott and emma because i truly dont think their compatible with each other, but i think its good that their dating cause emma gets all this attention

I want to know how dark Scott can get if he finds out Emma’s secretly hanging out with the likes of Loki and Doom. He’d prolly’ go “Oh yeah!? Well I have a mutant death squad! Take that!”

Then they’ll have earth-shattering make-up sex. But as it stands, I like the happy. If only because we all know that it ain’t gonna last.

I am going to have to agree and disagree with everybody.

Occasionally you do need something other than angst in a story, if only to hit home when they go all angsty again. Sure you can do depressing story arc’s all the time, but won’t it eventually end up MORE depressing if you start from a happy place?

The true revelling in darkness needs to be a journey of destruction. What good is a journey when you are already at your destination?

Damn angsty teens!

Give the new direction time. Reality will hit soon enough and then there will be some smack down. The X-Men are having a good run at the moment, imagine how much more shattered they’ll be when it all comes crashing down.
