“When Joss Whedon joined the X-Men” (Astonishing X-Men) makes #12 in ugo.com’s list of Top 50 WTF Moments in Comics. Ugo.com writes that Emma [under Joss' Astonishing X-Men] is analogous to Cordelia Chase in TV’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer:

#12. Astonishing X-Men #1
Grant Morrison is a hard act to follow. Which is why Marvel went to Joss Whedon for their new X-Men book, Astonishing X-Men. And while it was nothing revolutionary (Whedon admits to being a big fan of the Claremont/Byrne run of the 70’s), Whedon and artist, John Cassaday, took a smaller team with some of the usual suspects (Cyclops and Wolverine) and not only resurrected Colossus, but added a real nostalgic tone that was overshadowed by how progressive it actually was. Anyone with a pop culture radar could see that Kitty Pryde was Buffy Summers, or that Emma Frost was Cordelia Chase, but Whedon wrote the X-Men like he did his tv shows; fully aware of the absurd situations they were in, which put us in the “shotgun” seat for two years of, dare we say it, a fun comic. WTF, indeed!

Oh, how I miss Joss and John.
