IGN.com interviewed Matt Fraction about the direction of Uncanny X-Men. The interview includes unlettered preview pages of Uncanny X-Men #505.

IGN Comics: At the end of issue #503, you reveal that the Red Queen is actually Madelyne Pryor. What made you decide to bring her back? What will she bring to the series in the future?

Fraction: It’s always fun to torture Scott, especially since he and Emma have found a kind of upswing in strength and security between the two of them. That plays into some of the larger themes in the book. There’s a fun biology theory about a Red Queen that sort of foreshadows where we’re headed. She seemed to strike at the core of Cyclops’ strength at the moment – who she is and what she represents

IGN Comics: And are the two of you still planning on staying on the book for the foreseeable future?

Fraction: I’m in it as long as they’ll have me. I’m having a blast. I just started writing – I don’t know if it’s going to be a special or a annual or what they’re going to call it – an Emma Frost special, and I’m having the time of my life.

Dodson art? Yay! Matt Fraction? Nay!

    Matt Fraction. Guh. If Doctor Doom meets up with Emma and calls her girly-girl thirty-three times in one panel then I will be both amazed and suicidal.

    Word.

    And any idea what is going on in the preview pages? A Christmas party? Someone is dreaming?

    @aimeeish - Um i first thought it was a dress up party but than halloween is over, looks like another reality or illusion, with all the x-girls around acting normal and emma acting confused and looking straight outta the 80’s

    It’s Scott’s psychic hotel. Sounds weird, I know, but solits say he has this magic place inside his head where he keeps his fantasies away from the prying thoughts of his telepathic gfs.

    @Shark - Oh gawd. You know, you’re probably right. OH GAWD. Can the x-comics can any worse?

    @aimeeish - yea this uncanny arc is going a little bit too overboard to read anymore, and its like every issue is getting worse, although i really like Dodson

    I’m pretty sure that Pixie taking out the musclebound overpowered Empath when an entire team of X-men couldn’t was, so far, the worst it’s gotten.

    Seriously, one punch from Manny and Pixie should have been KO’d. Not to mention Emma should have just shut him down the moment the chase began.

    @Shark - I cannot stand Pixie. I also thought her stupid “soul dagger” can hurt only the magic type characters. Continuity fail.

    @aimeeish - At the very least, she isn’t a formerly thousand-strong clone with metal bones and a perpetually diamond heart.

    My anger at Pixie was only further exacerbated by the fact that I have the hots for Submissive!Empath. His bicep was bigger than her friggin’ head.

    @Shark - Hah! Nice.
