Yeah, the relationship between Mystique and Iceman was very well developed. It’s not traditional, but still very entertaining to watch. Ramos and Bachalo’s art work really sold it. You know that Townsend, the comic inker, is a member of deviantArt website? He has the inked image of them kissing in his gallery. It’s a beautiful image.
The art wasn’t bad in that ‘Manifest Destiny’ story. I just like the way Ramos and Bachalo draw Mystique with pupils. It makes it easier to connect with her emotionally. During “Messiah Complex” you really felt for her as she was trying to save Rogue.

Well, I know Cornell is writing for “Young Avengers” currently, but his “Captain Britain” series I heard was being canceled. In way he’s perfect. He can channel all that British goodness all into Emma for this book. Too bad these are only side stories and Emma doesn’t appear more.

@FoxxFire Art – Yeah, Michael Ryan, while talented, is not what the doctor ordered for a serious-toned story.

And agreed, I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews about his Captain Britain series. Hope he’s got talent to spare for Miss Frost.

That would make sense. Still, he’s the only artist listed. I remember that Ramos did all the covers for “Manifest Destiny”, but only drew the story for one small segment. I wish he had drawn the story of Iceman and Mystique that was the lead of each book. That was a very interesting read. The art was sub-par. I thought it was interesting how it seemed like Mystique was trying to kill Iceman, but it turns out she helped cure him of the problems he had with his powers. Though it was her fault he had the problem in the first place.
I am interested in reading how Cornell handles Emma. He really seemed to enjoy her character.

@FoxxFire Art - I imagine it might be like Manifest Destiny, or at least at first, with different artists doing different segments. I simply imagine Ramos is the most prominent artist out of the group.

It was explained in the files on the Marvel website. Cloak and Dagger have an extensive criminal record. It’s explained that Osborn gave them a choice. Either join the Dark X-Men and have your criminal records cleared, or have HAMMER or others arrest them. It’s not really asking when you say join or be arrested for your crimes.

Mystique is just a hard woman to force to do anything. She can just disappear and go missing anywhere in the world.

Okay, everything I’ve found said Ramos did the pencil work on this. I saw the preview. That sure as hell doesn’t look like Ramos’ work. Not unless he was really drunk when he drew.

@FoxxFire Art – Well, it wouldn’t be willingly, he’d force it on her, and it’s a procedure he had done on all his Thunderbolts besides Moonstone when he was in charge.

He probably had to resort to that for the reasons you just stated.

Also, how’d he blackmail Cloak and Dagger?

I don’t think Mystique would go through all that for nothing. Either he blackmailed her like he did with Cloak and Dagger, but this is Mystique. What could you blackmail her with that she wouldn’t be willing to admit to? He could of threaten her with something. Very possible with Osborn, but she can disappear pretty much anywhere. Another option is that he offered her something, or is willing to give her what she wants.
Last time she was seen was during “Manifest Destiny”. Her last words were that she would come and see Bobby again and promised that he would love her. Right before jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge.

Maybe some combination of shape shift control from X-Factor and the shocks from Thunderbolts. Essentially, freedom would be her only reward.
I wouldn’t put it past Osbourn to make her work for free.

Rats, I actually wasn’t too interested in these books, but hearing Ramos is doing the pencil work might change my mind. I might have to check these out. I was also interested when I heard rumors of Mystique’s involvement. I really enjoy stories that involve Emma and Mystique. Though I haven’t heard anything official about Mystique in the Dark X-Men. I would just wonder what Osborn would have to offer her, or how he would blackmail her into it.
