THE STORY:
From the pages of Joss Whedon and John Cassaday’s classic Astonishing X-Men run, see two titanic tales unfold: In the first, what if Ord from Breakworld brought Jean Grey back from the dead instead of Colossus? What happens when she’s reunited with the X-Men? And Emma? And how will this change affect the entire galaxy? A story of life, death, love and loss resulting in one word that strikes fear into all: Phoenix! “WHAT IF JEAN GREY WAS RESURRECTED INSTEAD OF COLOSSUS?” by Jim McCann (NEW AVENGERS: THE REUNION) and David Yardin (X-MEN ORIGINS: GAMBIT). In the second, when the artificial being known as Danger is out to destroy Xavier and his X-Men, someone else picks up her signal. Someone deadly they’ve never faced before… someone who’s ready to fall in love with the mutated Danger Room! “WHAT IF DANGER BECAME ULTRON’S BRIDE?” Written by Matteo Casali with incredible art by Mike Getty! Plus a “SAY WHAT?” comedy strip by Mike Gallagher (Mad Magazine) and Dave Manak (Spy Vs. Spy).

1. Oh; I’m in love with this Emma! She is no less than perfect. But I’d hate to see Scott following Jean around, he didn’t love her long before her death, is it so hard to get?…….. Too bad the story takes place before Cyclops realized he loved Emma.
The art is amazing! It’s a real homage!
Plus . they’re all gonna die, I’m sure. All this What ifs end the same…

So, who wanna bet Emma goes Phoenix this time and destroys the universe?

(As happened in the last What If concerning Phoenix that I remember)

I hope that doesn’t happen! I’d actually love to see a mature, thought-provoking conversation among the three.

Well the cover hints that Emma may be involved with the Phoenix somehow, but I hope that doesn’t happen too, I never liked the idea of Emma becoming the Phoenix, even if it’s just a “What if?” story…
I also hate puppy Scott over Jean, and I have that feeling too, someone will die, probably Scott… In fact I hope that Emma kills him only because his behaviour about Jean’s return… that would be a good (and twisted) end, lol.

It is a “What If”, so the body count will probably be quite high.

Also, Colossus returning turned out quite well, both Earth and Breakworld were saved, and we even got rid of Kitty to boot. :)

So as Jean returning instead possibly cannot turn out for the better, it almost have to go in the other direction instead.

Thought provoking Aimee? Example?

They changed the tile thing, Phoenix is going to destroy their Sun.

I hope it ends with Emma and JEan making out. That should piss people off.

Emma looks like a man in both cover and inside artwork… or it is just me?

by WhitePhoenix on December 23rd, 2009 at 8:58 pm

@ White Phoenix. Yeah it’s you :)

I just read this comic. *Spoilers* (I believe that the spoilers in bold thing doesn’t work anymore.)
Loved:
-The art (both cover and inside artwork)
-Scott still picks Emma.
-The jokes on the last pages

Hated:
-The conclusion (really? her heart? Kitty tried that on Endsong and failed and now she could make it?)
-Poor Hank and the Cuckoos.

In general is a 7/10 issue, not so bad, but not what I was expecting…
Emma Frost.
<<<—– this is a test

Heh, yeah I took off the spoiler thing. :P

And I just finished reading it…that was umm…interesting to say the least. The issue seemed more like a practical joke.

Yeah I know I liked almost everything that had nothing to do with the main story lol!
