Like all Ultimate characters, the Ultimate Universe’s (Earth-1610) version of Emma Frost is ironically different compared to the Marvel Universe’s (Earth-616) version of Emma Frost.

Emma Frost is a mutant who possesses the ability to transform her skin into a crystal like substance. In this reality, she does not appear to have telepathy, however, it has been hinted that she it is very possible she does have telepathy but hiding it. The former student and lover of Professor Xavier holds a very passionate interest in teaching the next generation of mutants. Her pacifist ideologies compared to the more aggressive ideologies of Xavier have clashed, thus the reason why they split and went separate paths.

Her peaceful lectures caught the attention of the U.S. government, which began to trust her. Emma then introduced an idea to start a school called the New Mutants, which would consist of a small group of teenage mutants who would positively educate the public about mutants. In a sense, the New Mutants was a public relations group to help the public believe the U.S. government was not anti-mutant.

Unfortunately, the New Mutants group was attacked by Sentinels during their first media appearance. The X-Men were able to stop the Sentinel, however, Beast, who left the X-Men and joined the New Mutants, died during the attack. Immediately after the attack, Emma Frost began to cry and told a human to get away from her.

Professor Xavier noted that humans were not ready for mutants and that they must do more than teach. He offered her another chance to join the X-Men, however, she declined and returned to Chicago. With the realization that the New Mutants idea was a failure, Emma started a new group called the Academy of Tomorrow. She cut her ties with the U.S. government and showed more hostility towards humans than she did before.

The Academy of Tomorrow is considerably different compared to the X-Men. Instead of accepting only mutants, this school accepts all students, whether human or mutant. Fortunately, the school has much more peaceful lives than that of the X-Men.
